RN4871 click

RN4871 click carries the RN4871 Bluetooth® 4.2 low energy module from Microchip.The click is designed to run on a 3.3V power supply. It uses ASCII Command Interface over UART for communication with target microcontroller, with additional functionality provided by the following pins on the mikroBUS™ line: RST, CS, and INT.

Click library

Software Support

We provide a library for the Rn4871 Click as well as a demo application (example), developed using MikroElektronika compilers. The demo can run on all the main MikroElektronika development boards.

Package can be downloaded/installed directly form compilers IDE(recommended way), or downloaded from our LibStock, or found on mikroE github account.

Library Description

This library contains API for Rn4871 Click driver.

Examples Description

This example reads and processes data from RN4871 clicks.

The demo application is composed of two sections :

Application Init

Initializes UART driver. Initializes device and parser.

void application_init ( void )
{
log_cfg_t log_cfg;
// Logger initialization.
LOG_MAP_USB_UART( log_cfg );
log_cfg.level = LOG_LEVEL_DEBUG;
log_cfg.baud = 115200;
log_init( &logger, &log_cfg );
log_info( &logger, "---- Application Init ----" );
// Click initialization.
RN4871_MAP_MIKROBUS( cfg, MIKROBUS_1 );
rn4871_init( &rn4871, &cfg );
{
}
{
}
memset( &rn4871.device_buffer, 0, 255 );
log_printf( &logger, " >>> app init done <<< \r\n" );
}

Application Task

If 'MASTER' - connects to 'SLAVE', sends message and disconnects. If 'SLAVE' - waits for connect request and message from 'MASTER' and LOGs received message.

void application_task ( void )
{
rn4871_process( );
{
rn4871_connect( &rn4871, &RN4871_ADDR_SLAVE[ 0 ] );
log_printf( &logger, ">>> sending data <<<\r\n" );
rn4871_disconnect( &rn4871 );
}
{
msg_flag = rn4871_read( &rn4871, &receive_buffer[ 0 ] );
if ( msg_flag == 1 )
{
log_printf( &logger, ">>> data received <<<\r\n" );
log_printf( &logger, ">>> data : " );
log_printf( &logger, "%s\r\n", ptr );
}
}
}

The full application code, and ready to use projects can be installed directly form compilers IDE(recommneded) or found on LibStock page or mikroE GitHub accaunt.

Additional notes and informations

Depending on the development board you are using, you may need USB UART click, USB UART 2 Click or RS232 Click to connect to your PC, for development systems with no UART to USB interface available on the board. The terminal available in all Mikroelektronika compilers, or any other terminal application of your choice, can be used to read the message.
