mikroSDK Library Blog

Library Description

The library covers all the necessary functions to control I2C Isolator click board.
The library performs the communication with the device via I2C protocol by writing to registers and by reading from registers.

Key functions:

  • void i2cisolator_writeByte( uint8_t regAddress, uint8_t writeData ) - Generic write the byte of data function.
  • uint8_t i2cisolator_readByte( uint8_t regAddress ) - Generic read the byte of data function.
  • void i2cisolator_writeBytes( uint8_t regAddress, uint8_t *writeData, uint8_t nBytes ) - Generic sequential data write function.

Examples description

The application is composed of the three sections :

  • System Initialization - Initializes I2C, LOG structures and start to write log.
  • Application Initialization - Initialization driver enables - I2C, sets the configuration of TMP007 sensor on IrThermo 2 click and start to write log.
  • Application Task - This is an example which demonstrates the use of I2C Isolator Click board. In this example, we use IrThermo 2 click measures the temperature and calculate the temperature in degrees Celsius [ °C ]. Results are being sent to the USART Terminal where you can track their changes. All data logs on usb uart for approximately every 1 sec when the data value changes.
void applicationTask()
{
    i2cisolator_getTemperature();
    Delay_100ms();

    FloatToStr( temperature, logText );
    mikrobus_logWrite( " Temperature : ", _LOG_TEXT );
    mikrobus_logWrite( logText, _LOG_TEXT );
    mikrobus_logWrite( degCel, _LOG_LINE );
    mikrobus_logWrite( "---------------------------", _LOG_LINE );
    Delay_1sec();
}

Additional Functions :

  • void i2cisolator_getTemperature() - Function calculate temperature in degrees Celsius.

Other mikroE Libraries used in the example:

  • I2C
  • UART
  • Conversions

Additional notes and informations

Depending on the development board you are using, you may need USB UART clickUSB UART 2 click or RS232 click to connect to your PC, for development systems with no UART to USB interface available on the board. The terminal available in all MikroElektronika compilers, or any other terminal application of your choice, can be used to read the message.
