Library Description

The library covers all the necessary functions to control the Thermo 2 click board. The library performs the communication with the device via 1-Wire protocol by writing to registers and by reading from registers.

Key functions:

  • void  thermo2_gpioDriverInit (T_CHARGER_P gpioObj) - Function initializes GPIO driver for the desired MIKROBUS1.

Examples description

The application is composed of the three sections :

  • System Initialization - Initializes GPIO structures and start to write log.
  • Application Initialization - Initialization driver enables - GPIO, and start One Wire communication, also write log.
  • Application Task - This is an example which demonstrates the use of Thermo 2 click board. Thermo 2 click communicates with register via One Wire protocol by the write to register and read from the register and display temperature in degree Celsius. Results are being sent to the Usart Terminal where you can track their changes. All data logs write on USB uart changes for every 3 sec.
void applicationTask()
{
    thermo2_readScratchpad();
    Delay_ms( 100 );

    FloatToStr( temperature, logText );
    mikrobus_logWrite( " Temperature : ", _LOG_TEXT );
    mikrobus_logWrite( logText, _LOG_TEXT );
    mikrobus_logWrite( degCel, _LOG_LINE );
    Delay_ms( 3000 );
}

Additional Functions :

  • void thermo2_setConfig( uint8_t cnfgValue ) - Set configuration function.
  • void thermo2_startConversion() - Start conversion function.
  • void thermo2_readScratchpad() - Read scratchpad function.

Other mikroE Libraries used in the example:

  • One_Wire
  • UART
  • Conversions

Additional notes and informations

Depending on the development board you are using, you may need USB UART clickUSB UART 2 click or RS232 click to connect to your PC, for development systems with no UART to USB interface available on the board. The terminal available in all MikroElektronika compilers, or any other terminal application of your choice, can be used to read the message.

Rotary O 2 Click is a compact add-on board that allows you to add a precision input knob to your design. This board features the TLC5925, a low-power 16-channel constant-current LED sink driver from Texas Instruments that, combined with a high-quality rotary encoder from ALPS, the EC12D1564402, allows you to add a precision input knob to your design. It also features an LED ring composed of 16 individual orange LEDs that can visually represent the encoder position and more.
