Library Description

The library covers all the necessary functions to control LCD mini Click board.

Key functions:

  • void lcdmini_setContrast( uint8_t contrastValue ) - Set contrast function.
  • uint8_t lcdmini_getInterrupt() - Get interrupt function.
  • void lcdmini_hwReset() - Hardware reset function.

Examples description

The application is composed of the three sections :

  • System Initialization - Initializes SPI and LOG structures, sets AN, RST, CS and PWM pins as output and INT pin as input and starts to write log.
  • Application Initialization - Initialization driver enables - SPI,mconfiguration SPI Lcd, set command: Lcd clear and cursor off, PWM initialization set PWM duty cycle and PWM frequency and start PWM, set Lcd mini contrast and display text.
  • Application Task - This is an example which demonstrates the use of LCD mini Click board. LCD mini Click communicates with register via SPI Lcd library and PWM interface. This example shows some text is written, then the text is moved left and right.
void applicationTask()
{
    for( cnt = 0; cnt < 8; cnt++ )
    {
        SPI_Lcd_Cmd( _LCD_SHIFT_LEFT );
        Delay_ms( 500 );
    }

    for( cnt = 0; cnt < 16; cnt++ )
    {
        SPI_Lcd_Cmd( _LCD_SHIFT_RIGHT );
        Delay_ms( 500 );
    }

    for( cnt = 0; cnt < 8; cnt++ )
    {
        SPI_Lcd_Cmd( _LCD_SHIFT_LEFT );
        Delay_ms( 500 );
    }
}

Additional Functions :

  • uint32_t lcdmini_pwmInit( uint16_t freq ) - Initializes the Timer module in PWM mode.
  • void lcdmini_pwmSetDuty( uint16_t duty ) - The function changes PWM duty ratio.
  • void lcdmini_pwmStart() - Starts appropriate PWM module.
  • void lcdmini_pwmStop() - Stops appropriate PWM module.

Other mikroE Libraries used in the example:

  • SPI
  • SPI_Lcd
  • Lcd_Constants
  • Port_Expander
  • PWM
  • UART

Additional notes and informations

Depending on the development board you are using, you may need USB UART clickUSB UART 2 click or RS232 click to connect to your PC, for development systems with no UART to USB interface available on the board. The terminal available in all MikroElektronika compilers, or any other terminal application of your choice, can be used to read the message.
